A great array of talent assembled at the special charity concert at 8pm in Kilfenora Hall on Saturday 8 March. Those appearing included
- The Kilfenora school band – the youngest of the Kilfenora musicians, who made a great impression in the recent RTE Ceili House recording (to be broadcast on 5 April). Tutored by Colin Nea.
- The Kilfenora Og Céilí Band – with several of our competitors at recent Fleadhs.
- Aibhin Holden’s dance troupes – set dancers and Burren Sean Nos
- Jessica Nea, Ada & Eva Kenny – fresh from winning All-Ireland medals in Derry as part of youth bands; Jessica also did two music sets with her father, Colin.
- St.Fachnans Choir
- Linnanes House band – JJ Conway, Cathy McCormack, Anne Rynne, James Devitt, Noel O’Donoghue, Colin Nea
- Colm Nestor’s pupil group.
This concert, raising money for the Hall and the music festival, reminds us that the Kilfenora Céilí Band was born out of a fund-raising céilí in 1909.
