Over 3 nights (10-12 November 2017), the Kilfenora Drama Group staged John B Keane’s play Sive in the Community Hall, to a packed and appreciative audience each evening.
Produced by Father Ned Crosby, and supported by a dedicated production team from the village, the majority of actors were drawn from Kilfenora itself.
Lisa Carkill played Sive, Eileen Hegarty was Mena Glavin and Mickey McCormack played the matchmaker Thomasheen Seán Rua. The rest of the cast were Mary Buckley (Nanna Glavin), Wille Cahir (Mike Glavin), Paul Carkill (Liam Scuab), John Howard (Seán Dota), Mick King (Pats Bocock) and Gerard McDonagh (Carthalawn – the part played by John B Keane himself in the first production in 1959).
The evening’s proceedings began with a few tunes from four young Kilfenora musicians.
